Shipping across state lines

Well.....we ship most of our day old chicks out of state - from Washington to Maine, Texas to Montana. But, last week the USPS shut down ALL live poultry shipments due to the winter storms all over the country (but not in CA where we live). We had chicks get almost to North Carolina and then were returned to us. Fortunately we were able to set up a brooder quickly and they got water and food as soon as we got home. People all over the country were very surprised - either shipping out chicks or waiting to receive chicks. I'm sure many didn't survive. This is a BIG concern for breeders and those who order large orders from hatcheries. We depend on the postal service to deliver our chicks within 2 days. And they do. Until now.
